Vandaag na lange tijd weer even zonder ReSharper in Visual Studio gewerkt. Wat was dat? Precies of de helft van de Visual Studio functionaliteit was ineens verdwenen. Geen gekleurde meldingen bij fouten of vewijzigen, veel minder refactoringsmogelijkheden.
Voor diegene die het nog niet kennen ReSharper is zoals ze zelf zeggen “The Most Intelligent Add-In To Visual Studio“, een uitbreiding op Visual Studio dus. Een tool die het de programmeur een stuk aangenamer maakt om te werken, maar het vooral ook veel makkelijker maakt om te debuggen.
Het is zoiets als de airco in de auto, de afwasmachine in de keuken, het waterbed in de slaapkamer of meer van die dingen. Eens je het hebt, wil je niet meer zonder. Ik heb alvast de laatste nieuwe 2.5.1 versie maar snel terug geïnstalleerd.

Na veel nadenken, afwegen en vergelijken heb ik dan toch besloten om mijn stage niet in England te doen. De communicatie liep niet altijd even vlot. Buiten het feit dat een mogelijke ervaring misloop vind ik vooral spijtig en zelfs “ambetant” voor Stu. Hij heeft mij voorgedragen in Brighton en heeft zijn nek voor mij uitgestoken.
Toch ben ik ervan overtuigd dat ik ook nu een toffe een leerrijke tijd tegemoet ga bij Webs in Kalmthout. Een klein bedrijfje (toch wat het aantal werknemers betreft) dat zich voornamelijk richt op op-maat-gemaakte webapplicaties.
En omdat morgen nog niet nieuw genoeg zal zijn, vertrouw ik vanaf morgen opde stiptheid van de NMBS, ik ben benieuwd.
It’s almost official now, at school they accepted my proposal for my training period at Study Group International in Brigthon (UK)! Now we have to wait before we sign the real contract because I don’t have it right now. At school they gave me an old contract from last year in English and the new contract for this year in Dutch. They promised me they are working on an English version for this year so as soon as I get this I can start planning to get the contract signed.
Met deze meld ik ook ineens dat je stage is goedgekeurd.

Study Group International
Now I have to make a decision …. Today I had a telephone interview with the headquarter of Raytheon in Germany to talk about my training period in Barcelona (Spain). After a 8-minute-call they were convinced so I can take contact with the office in Barcelona to ask what kind of project they have for me.
Yesterday, Stu gave me some more information about the project I can do for Studygroup in Brighton (UK). I can do something with SharePoint Portal Server 2003. Set up a complete solution using templates designed by the Australian colleagues, tailored to UK content. So it will be both design and some scripting.
Now it’s time to think about the two possibilities and make a decision so I can start getting all the papers signed. For the moment I think it’s standing
(UK) Brigton 70% – 30% (Spain) Barcelona.
Update: I made my decision, I want to go to Brighton!

After all it is not that bad… Today I got green light for my GST (Individual Study Program). This means I can do the two courses from my second year, all the courses from the third year AND my training/working period. So from now on I can start looking for a place/company where I can work 13weeks (in a period of 15weeks – from February 5th till May 15th 2007).
